There’s More to Shaftesbury Park Than You Might Expect
Walk through the doors of Shaftesbury Park Primary School and you quickly realise that this is a school with its feet firmly in Battersea and its eyes on the wider world.
This year is an especially exciting one for us. The 2026–27 academic year marks 150 years since Shaftesbury Park first began educating local children. Much has changed since 1877, but one thing has remained constant: our belief that school should open up possibilities.
Today, that belief is captured in our simple ambition for every child: to Think about their world, Expand their world and Change their world.
For some children, that means learning science, history and geography through French as part of our bilingual pathway, developing the confidence to communicate in another language and even working towards an internationally recognised DELF qualification. Our bilingual work has received national recognition, and we remain proud holders of the prestigious LabelFrancÉducation accreditation.
For others, our Enterprise pathway brings learning to life through teamwork, creativity, leadership and problem-solving. Children can develop business ideas, pitch products and take part in the Peter Jones Foundation’s Tycoon Competition. Our partnership with Skills Builder has also seen Shaftesbury Park become one of just 20 Flagship schools internationally.
But what makes us most proud is how these opportunities sit alongside the values at the heart of our community. As a Gold UNICEF Rights Respecting School, children learn that their voices matter and that they can make a difference. Our international curriculum, links with schools in France, trips, cultural experiences and partnerships beyond the school gates all help make that idea real.
Perhaps, though, a school is best understood by seeing it for yourself.
If you are considering a Nursery or Reception place, we would love to welcome you. Our next Reception 2027 open mornings are Tuesday 29 September, Tuesday 13 October and Tuesday 10 November, with individual school tours also available during term time.
Come in, meet us and see what a local school with a global perspective really feels like.
